Top 5 Spring School Holiday Activities

Spring is here, bringing with it warmer days full of blooming nature! Here’s our 5 top ways to get outside and enjoy the new season with the little ones.

Kids love digging in the dirt and gardening is a great way to entertain them away from the screen. Bring them to your local garden centre and pick out some fresh Spring blooms to plant a Spring flower bed. If the kids are feeling super imaginative and playful, why not have them create a dinosaur/fairy garden!

Make a Bird Feeder

Bring some excitement to your backyard with a DIY bird feeder project that the whole family can get involved with! It does not need to be fancy; you can simply spread peanut butter on a pine cone, roll it in bird seeds and hang in your yard. Making bird feeders is a fun way for you and the kids to get to know which birds are native to your area, and a great way to help your feathered friends when their food sources are scarce in the cooler winter months.

Nature Scavenger Hunt

Take your scavenger hunt al fresco and make a list of natural things to look for outside. For example: shapes of clouds, a bird’s nest, types of Spring flowers, insects etc. Go for a walk around the garden or the local park to see what nature you can find!

Paint Outdoors

Make the most of the good weather and bring the art box outside into the garden! Less worries for the adults about paint on the carpets and more fun for the kids being outside in the fresh air. Let their creative side run wild with outdoor chalk for a driveway masterpiece!

Camp in the Backyard

Who says you need to travel hours up or down the coast to go camping with the family! All you need is a tent and a patch of grass to pitch it on in the backyard. Have a fire pit? Then have the kids roast some marshmallows around the campfire before bedtime. They’ll love the feeling of adventure and will sleep snug and sound during the Spring nights.
